OpenSUSE 15.1 with MATE is very similar to Mint 19.3 with MATE. ![]() I have a restricted network that cannot see the real internet on the MacOS guests but can see directories on the host OS and printers (CUPS is the same on IOS as Linux). The MacOS versions I run were "no longer supported" but I have software that only runs on the old MacOS versions so Virtualbox was the answer. There is no 64bit version of the software and the company went out of business - the old data still needs to be occasionally accessed but a new application in Linux is the replacement but the transfer of data was not 100% good so the old stuff is still around for legal reasons. Ironically the battery was the most expensive upgrade. Upgrades cost less than $200 from used parts on ebay - (got the 4TB drive on a $44 bid). I also replaced the Battery with a brand new one. The CPU on the old Macbook was upgraded to a T9900 and the disk from 80GB to a 4TB disk that is faster and uses less power. You do have to have Apple hardware to run MacOS as a guest. You do not have to run MacOS as the primary on a Macbook. ![]() ![]() ![]() I have an older Apple Macbook that is running OpenSUSE 15.1 as the last supported version of MacOS will only allow 4GB of ram to be seen but the motherboard chipset allows 16gb but OpenSUSE 15.1 sees all 16gbs - Virtualbox will allow me to run 2 Older MacOS 4GB virtual machines on the Macbook (a 2003 9.1 and a 2006 10.3 image).
